I’m a bioregionally focused herbalist who has been leading herb walks and doing talks and other events for over 20 years all over Southern California and the Western United States.

For 4 years, I went to the Pacific School of Herbal Medicine which was also very regionally focused. I regularly attend educational events by other herbalists and at herb conferences. I’ve been leading walks through the Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden for 8 years and the Fullerton Arboretum for about 5 years. I was formerly the regional educator for Herb Pharm. These days, some of my events are sponsored by Wishgarden and Follow Your Heart.

Besides the walks and events I lead on my own, I’m also available for private group walks ($50 an hour plus gas if over 30 miles away from West Los Angeles and extra time of over 50 miles away). I am also available for walks on your property if you have Wild areas and are curious about the medicinal and edible plants that grow there (same rate). I am also available for talks/seminars. For indoor classes I usually don’t use a PowerPoint since they tend to get in the way, and honestly I do prefer outdoor events since the plants themselves are really the greatest teachers.

On the walks, I describe worldwide and local traditional and modern uses of 15-25 plants depending on location in 2-3 hour walks (usually 2-2 and a half hours). I also describe ways that a plants survival strategies effect how they affect us, how plant communities interact, the benefits of growing native plants, how our senses tell us about how plants interact with us, fun folklore and legends, and much more. The walks and events are informative, interactive, and FUN.
