The incredible biodiversity of California

The plant walks/herbal adventures I do encompass a very broad range of California habitats. In fact, some walks, such as the walk I do in Wildwood Park in Thousand Oaks, encompass several distinct bioregions in less than 1/2 mile distance.

The walks occur in many types of California ecosystems including low and high desert, coastal sage scrub, chaparral, oak woodland, riparian woodland, meadows, pine/white fir forest, and more.

Plants will develop survival strategies to adapt to the ecosystems where they grow. Many of these adaptations will translate to profound (or subtle) effects on us when we interact with them.

These adaptations will be explored further both here and on my walks.
